Climate change and conflict – what’s the relationship? In a recently completed set of field-based studies for USAID, the Foundation for Environmental Security and Sustainability set aside “yes-or-no” questions about whether climate change causes conflict and replaced them with pragmatic and politically informed questions about how climate change is consequential for conflict in specific fragile states.

“Half of the world’s population is under 30 – any development agenda would have to address their needs, including their health needs, as part of accomplishing development goals,” said Jennifer Adams, deputy assistant administrator at USAID’s Bureau for Global Health, at the Wilson Center on September 24. As the international community seeks to articulate a collective vision for sustainable development following the Millennium Development Goals, a vibrant new network has emerged in Madagascar to advance integrated population, health and environment (PHE) initiatives across this island nation.
